Ancillary Trainer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct practical and theoretical training sessions for ancillary equipment operators, dozer, grader, desirable haul trucks as well. 
  2. Monitor operator performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement. 
  3. Ensure compliance with mine safety standards and operational procedures specific to ancillary operations. 
  4. Assist in developing training materials and competency assessments for ancillary equipment. 
  5. Support onsite training activities and collaborate with operations and safety teams to enhance training effectiveness. 
  6. Maintain training records and report progress to management regarding ancillary training outcomes.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Upper Secondary schooling 
  • First Aid Certificate 
  • Thailand-approved manual vehicle license

Preferred

  • Experience – Over 2 years of hands-on experience working in a complex mining environment, specializing in ancillary operations, operator development, and equipment safety within high-performance production settings. 
  • Experience developing and refining ancillary training strategies and resource plans, including alignment with operational budgets and maintenance schedules to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance of ancillary equipment. 

Technical Skills 

Essential

  • Proven experience applying Continuous Improvement and Business Improvement methodologies to enhance ancillary training programs, operator performance, and equipment utilization. Actively identifies opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness through structured problem-solving and feedback loops. 
  • Strong communication skills with high English literacy able to effectively deliver training, provide clear instructions, and engage with diverse teams and stakeholders across operational and safety contexts. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess operator performance on ancillary machinery, identify training gaps, and understand industry trends in equipment technology, safety standards, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience collaborating with Planning and Asset Reliability teams to align ancillary machinery training with maintenance strategies, operational schedules, and reliability goals ensuring operators support equipment longevity and performance.
  • Practical knowledge in contributing to strategic and annual planning, budgeting ensuring ancillary equipment training programs are aligned with operational priorities, resource allocation, and long-term equipment performance goals.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prepare clear, accurate training reports and maintain detailed records of operator performance, competency assessments, and equipment usage supporting compliance, continuous improvement, and operational transparency.
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards associated with ancillary equipment operations in mining environments, including equipment-related risks, ground stability, visibility limitations, and interaction with other machinery—ensuring training programs emphasize hazard awareness, risk mitigation, and safe operating practices.

Preferred

  • Demonstrates strong leadership with a proactive, ‘Can Do’ attitude motivating operators, leading by example in safety and performance, and fostering a positive, solutions-focused training environment. 
  • Proficient in using Caterpillar’s Vital Information Management System (VIMS) to support ancillary operator training, performance monitoring, and maintenance alignment.  Skilled in interpreting VIMS data including event logs to enhance operator awareness of ancillary equipment, improve reliability, and drive continuous improvement in training outcomes.
  • Ability to develop Safe Working Procedures specific to ancillary equipment operations and effectively demonstrate these to operators and contractor teams ensuring clear understanding, compliance with safety standards, and consistent application in the field.

Other Skills/Attributes/Experience 

Essential

  • Thai Driving License (manual vehicle) 
  • Good command of spoken and written Thai able to effectively convey training content, safety procedures, and operational expectations to Thai-speaking operators and contractor teams, ensuring clarity, engagement, and compliance with established standards. 
  • Ancillary safety management involves training operators using engaging methods, enforcing critical safety protocols such as equipment checks and lockout/tagout procedures, fostering a robust safety culture, and ensuring trainers develop site-specific plans while remaining updated on current regulations. 
  • The ability to act autonomously and make discerning decisions, independently assess situations, and respond in a safe and professional manner, setting a strong example for operators while maintaining high standards of work and safety.

Preferred

  • Experience managing ancillary training programs, which includes effectively communicating with diverse groups such as operators, supervisors, safety teams, and management. This role involves understanding various perspectives, addressing issues professionally, and ensuring that training initiatives align with operational and safety objectives. 
  • Capability development of teams entails enhancing the skills, knowledge, and overall performance of ancillary staff through structured training, mentorship, and continuous improvement practices. This ensures the teams are competent, safety-focused, and meet organizational objectives.
