Junior Geologist

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supervise ore mining activities to enable efficient and profitable extraction of ore to take place in a timely and safe manner.
  2. Supervise and maintain ore mark-ups and monitor their integrity with respect to assay data and geological observations.
  3. Supervise all waste mining activities to ensure rock type classification into the appropriate AMD category.
  4. Monitor quality of grade control drilling, survey and assay data.
  5. Supervise in grade control drilling or resources definition drilling process
  6. Blast Movement process, before and after blasts.
  7. Carry out geological pit mapping on a daily basis and maintain geological databases.
  8. Responsible for safety of the sampling crew on the RC grade control drill rig.
  9. Responsible for drill logging of RC chips and diamond drill core.
  10. Attend and contribute to daily and weekly geology meetings to discuss activities for the past period and the following period.
  11. Become a member of the working team committee to obtaining ISO Certification.
  12. Assist with Chatree Strategic Project as requested 
  13. Stand in for a Senior Mine Geologists as requested.
  14. Special projects where deemed appropriate by the supervising Senior Geologist or Geological Superintendent.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Geology
  • Basic First Aid and Fire fighting
  • Basic Mining Principles
  • Thailand-approved manual vehicle licence

Preferred

  • Post graduate studies in a related discipline
  • Member of a Professional Mining or Geoscience Organisation

Technical Skills

Essential

  • Geological and geotechnical mapping, modelling and interpretation
  • Rock type identification & classification
  • Sampling and QAQC theory and application
  • Mine production and Grade Control methodology
  • Blast Movements methodology using BMT or AI
  • Open pit mining principles
  • Use of Datamine Studio, Ore Controller, DH logger and Fusion
  • User of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

  • Analytical techniques (including environmental)
  • Acid Rock Drainage
  • Minerals processing knowledge
  • Structural geology
  • Understanding of reconciliation processes
  • Analytical methods knowledge
  • Leapfrog Software
  • MapInfo
