Akara enhances the quality of life and boosts the income of local communities through both direct and indirect employment opportunities by local entrepreneurs. Our efforts include establishing agricultural and processing cooperatives and developing plans for a community product distribution center. Additionally, we are committed to transforming the mine area and its surroundings into educational tourist attractions, promoting sustainable community-based tourism. We advocate for the establishment of homestays to cater to tourists seeking authentic community experiences.
Furthermore, we are steadfast in our commitment to nurturing and empowering community enterprises. We facilitate the development of marketing skills to broaden the reach of community enterprises’ products and services, thereby bolstering income streams. Presently, we proudly support 13 community enterprise groups.
Akara has reached another significant milestone at the close of 2025 with the successful certification of three international ISO management systems simultaneously, reaffirming its strong commitment to conducting business with quality, safety, and sustainability in line with global standards.
Akara together with GIT, MTS Gold, and Chulalongkorn University hosted a knowledge-sharing forum titled “Responsible Mining for Growth: Advancing Global Standards and Carbon Credit Opportunities through Tailings Innovation.”
Top management of Kingsgate and Akara met with Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment. The meeting focused on acknowledging the resolution of the TAFTA matter and discussing opportunities for ongoing collaboration to support responsible mining practices aligned with international standards.
