HOME > ABOUT US > OVERVIEW
To promote Thailand as the GOLD HUB of Southeast Asia, adhering to global standards, championing corporate social responsibility and sustainability, and passing on ‘Thai Value’ through Thai gold crafted by Thais to the world.
Akara Resources Public Company Limited is the proud owner and operator of Thailand’s largest gold mine, the Chatree Gold Mine, strategically positioned in the highly prospective Loei Fold Belt— a significant part of the Indochina Block. Located approximately 280 kilometres north of Bangkok, our mine straddles Phichit and Phetchabun Provinces in lower northern Thailand.
The mine was named “Chatree” in honour of Mr. Chatree Chaichanapoonpol, our former geologist whose significant role in initial explorations led to the success of the Chatree Gold Mine.
Akara is a subsidiary of Kingsgate Consolidated Limited, an Australian Securities Exchange (“ASX”) listed company. We have received a transfer of world-class technology, enhancing our capabilities and contributing to our success. This technology transfer underscores our commitment to continuous improvement and sustainable practices.
The mine produced 1.8 million ounces of gold and 10 million ounces of silver between 2001-2016. Our operations are fortified by 1.3 Moz gold and 11.9 Moz silver Ore Reserves and 3.4 Moz gold and 29.4 Moz silver Mineral Resources (as of 12 October 2023).
Our processing facility consists of two parallel plants with a combined nameplate capacity of 5.0 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa).
Our commitment goes beyond accolades; we were among the first signatories to the International Cyanide Management Code. At Akara, we understand that social and environmental responsibilities are paramount, and our unwavering dedication to these principles sets us apart in the mining industry.

Akara Resources
(formerly Akara Mining Company Limited)
was incorporated and registered as
a private company under Thai law.
The Company was granted mining leases
with a 20-year tenure and licences
required for operating a gold mine.
The metallurgical processing plant and
associated infrastructure were
constructed under the “Chatree South Project.”
We commenced our first commercial
gold production for the Chatree South
Project in November 2001.
The Company expanded the Metallurgical
Processing Plant, increasing the nameplate
capacity to 1.8 million tonnes per annum.
Another expansion to the Metallurgical Processing
Plant raised the nameplate capacity to 2.35 million
tonnes per annum.
The Company was granted mining leases
with a 20-year tenure for the “Chatree North Project.”
The addition tripled the area available
for mining and led to the access of
much larger defined Ore Reserves.
The Metallurgical Processing Licence was granted
allowing for the expansion of the plant to achieve a
nameplate capacity of 5.0 million tonnes per annum.
The Company changed its name to
“Akara Resources Public Company Limited.”
The operations were suspended.
The National Mineral Management Policy Commission (NMMPC)
extended the Company’s mining leases for 10 years
from 30 December 2021 - 29 December 2031
The Chatree Gold Mine reopened
